Comparative Properties of Porous Phyllosilicate-Based Ceramics Shaped by Freeze-Tape Casting

چکیده

Porous phyllosilicate-based ceramics were manufactured by freeze-tape casting from clays of different particle size and morphology in order to characterize their microstructure stress rupture changes before after firing. Three raw selected: HCR (77% Halloysite–10Å), KORS (29% kaolinite), KCR kaolin (98% kaolinite). These exhibited a monomodal distribution used prepare four slurries, three with each clay material one consisting mixture labeled KHCR. After shaping casting, the porosity obtained biaxial flexural test collected for disk-like samples drying sintering at 1200 °C. Results showed that ceramic materials had highest bending strength (70 ± 1.1 MPa) those value (80 1%). SEM observation revealed difference texture porous materials. In disks, flattened pores appeared more textured, primary mullite crystallites formed rigid skeleton within amorphous phase. small quantity secondary needles which randomly dispersed vitreous The relatively important phase led bulk formation particles. values related presence mullite, as well (volume, morphology, pores) sintering.

Freeze-Casting of Porous Biomaterials: Structure, Properties and Opportunities

The freeze-casting of porous materials has received a great deal of attention during the past few years. This simple process, where a material suspension is simply frozen and then sublimated, provides materials with unique porous architectures, where the porosity is almost a direct replica of the frozen solvent crystals. This review focuses on the recent results on the process and the derived p...

Ethanol-based Tape Casting Process of the Textured Bi0.5(Na0.80K0.20)0.5TiO3-BiFeO3 Ceramics

The rheological and tape casting behavior of ethanol-based Bi0.5(Na0.80K0.20)0.5TiO3-7 mol% BiFeO3 (BNKT-BF) slurries was investigated. The effect of sintering temperature profile on texture development with a preferred orientation was also studied. A 50 MPa pressure assisted three step sintering profile promoted extensive texture development together with densification. The role of BF as a sin...

Complex-Shaped Porous Cu Bodies Fabricated by Freeze-Casting and Vacuum Sintering

Porous Cu bodies with complex shapes were fabricated by freeze-casting and vacuum sintering water-based CuO slurry. The sintered bodies showed no noticeable macroscopic defects and good shape tolerance. The interconnected pore tunnels were observed by electronic microscopy. The pore size became smaller and the porosity and volume shrinkage of sintered porous bodies decreased with the increase o...
